Wisdom for God’s People

Bible Passage:

Big Picture Question:

What does God know? God knows everything about the past, present, and future.

Bible Story Summary:

  • There are two ways to live: doing what is foolish and evil or doing what is wise and good.

  • Solomon wrote many wise things in the Book of Proverbs to help God’s people know how to live wisely.

  • Solomon said that wisdom is valuable and that only God can give life meaning and purpose.

  • Wisdom is loving God/fearing the Lord and obeying His Word.

Family Discussion Starters:

  • Tell about a time you made a foolish choice.

  • Tell about a time you made a wise choice.

  • How can we get wisdom? What are some ways God gives wisdom to His people?

  • Can wisdom save us from sin? If not, who can save us?

  • To whom does wisdom lead us?

Family Activities:

  • Read through several proverbs as a family. Choose one to memorize and put into practice.

  • Be mindful to affirm your children when they make a wise choice.

  • Plan a family Bible study, such as reading one proverb each day for a month. Set aside five to ten minutes each evening to read the Bible together and discuss the teachings found in the passage. Talk about how the wisest thing we can do is trust Jesus for salvation.
